The Deckhouse is one of the most individual lodges on Friars, our 12-month holiday season development. Sitting on a generous plot with open views across Alnesbourne Priory Golf Course and towards the River Orwell, this spacious home has been thoughtfully finished throughout and benefits from a substantial wrap-around deck that makes the very most of its surroundings.

The lodge is approached from a private double wide parking area. The entrance hall is welcoming and practical, with large oak-effect sliding doors providing generous storage from the moment you step inside.

On entering the open plan living and dining area, the scale of the space immediately impresses. A soaring vaulted ceiling with exposed white painted beams runs the full length of the room, with pendant lighting adding character overhead. The generous corner sofa and recliner chair face a feature fireplace with wall-mounted television above. French doors open directly onto the deck, flooding the room with natural light and connecting the inside effortlessly to the outdoor space.

The dining area is a room in its own right. A large farmhouse-style table in dark oak with a white painted trestle base seats six comfortably, beneath pendant lights that echo the one in the living space. Blue and white checked roman blinds and full height windows give the room a relaxed, coastal feel.

The kitchen is a serious cook’s space. Finished in dove grey high gloss units with warm oak worktops, it runs in a generous U-shape with ample worktop and storage throughout. A stainless steel extractor hood sits above the induction hob, with a grill above the oven below, and an integrated sink beneath a large window overlooking the garden.

The living area leads into the internal hallway, carpeted and calm, serving two bedrooms, a study, and the main bathroom.

The master bedroom suite is a genuinely impressive room. A deep olive feature wall provides warmth and contrast, with a large upholstered headboard and matching bedside cabinets in oak either side of the double bed. Full height sliding wardrobes with two mirrored doors run the width of the room, adding both storage and a sense of space. The en-suite is accessed directly from the bedroom and is finished in warm stone-effect tiling, with a large walk-in shower enclosure, pedestal basin with chrome mixer tap, WC, and a heated towel rail.

The twin bedroom is neat and well proportioned, with two single beds, a shared bedside cabinet between them, and a window looking out to the garden.

The main bathroom is finished to an excellent standard with full stone-effect tiling, a large corner shower enclosure, pedestal basin, WC, and heated towel rail.

The study is a versatile additional room, ideal as a home office or hobby space, with its own window and door leading through to a generous internal store. The store itself is accessed both from the study and directly from the garden, making it a practical space for outdoor equipment, bikes, or golf clubs.

Outside, the deck runs along most of the front and side of the lodge, built on a raised brick plinth with stainless steel cable railing. It is large enough to accommodate a full outdoor sofa set, dining furniture, and a barbecue with room to spare. With views across the mature, well-planted garden to the golf course and river beyond, it is the perfect place to unwind, relax, and watch the world go by.
